The business started life in a tin shed in Mt Roskill, Auckland, in 1978. Ross Walker and Colin Menzies formed a partnership that started off repairing welding equipment.
Within a few years they had employed John Shapcott, who has a background in power electronics. John is now the business owner of Electrastart Ltd, the Tecna New Zealand division being set up for the sole purpose of distributing and servicing Tecna spot welders and consumables.
The company has developed substantial expertise in all aspects of spot welding and is frequently asked to assist in developing specific processes. Electrastart has been appointed TECNA ‘s NZ agent and supplies a wide range of TECNA welding equipment and consumables to New Zealand industry. Spot welding products range from simple hand-held spot welding guns to sophisticated high-powered inverter spot welders.
